Larry Elder Declares Candidacy for Governor of California
Will Challenge Gavin Newsom in Recall Election

Los Angeles, CA – July 12, 2021 – Larry Elder, nationally syndicated radio host and newspaper columnist, bestselling author, award-winning documentary filmmaker, and one of the best-known media figures in America today, declared his candidacy for governor of California in the special recall election scheduled for September 14, 2021.

Widely known as the Sage from South Central, Elder announced on his flagship daily radio program, “The Larry Elder Show,” that he will fight to end Governor Gavin Newsom’s calamitous policies and restore a brighter future for California.

“I’m running for governor because the decline of California isn’t the fault of its people,” said Elder. “Our government is what’s ruining the Golden State. Our schools are closed to both students and their parents. Our streets aren’t safe from rising violent crime or the disaster of rising homelessness. And the scandals of Sacramento aren’t going to stop on their own. It’s time to tell the truth. We’ve got a state to save.”

Elder will formally launch his campaign to Recall Newsom, Elect Elder outside the Los Angeles County Registrar on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. PDT, after he files the requisite paperwork to become a formal candidate. Media are invited to the launch with volunteers and supporters. To request an interview, please email [email protected].

The address of the Registrar’s office is below.
